Music Staff Lesson (Grades 3-5)

This lesson is taught at the end of 3rd grade.  We use the music staff to play instruments.  The instrument we all use in 4th grade is the recorder.  We continue to play recorder in 5th grade.  This knowledge of the music staff will be used in middle school Band, Orchestra and Chorus!

The Music Alphabet starts and goes in the same order as the regular alphabet, except that it is much shorter...
ABCDEFG

And it can repeat ABCDEFGABCDEFGABCFEFG

When we put it on the staff (4 lines, 5 spaces) we can say this rap.

LINES
EGBDF (snap or clap)
EGBDF (snap or clap)
EGBDF (snap or clap)
Names of the lines of the Treble Clef

SPACES
FA (snap or clap) CE
FA (snap or clap) CE
FA (snap or clap) CE
Treble spaces, they spell FACE

Watch Ms. Miller put this all together in this Music Staff Lesson https://ensemble.cesa10.k12.wi.us/Watch/i2W9CpFa
